Intertexuality

Intertexualilty means to borrows visual or audio elements from a film prior to the one being made. It is often used to recreate memorable events and characters that have been previously created and shown in a movie. This concept is considered effective when considering Thriller movies.

An example would be the comparison between the character Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street and the janitor in the film Scream who wears the same costume.
